TEACHING ARTISTS

Felipe Galindo (aka Feggo) has a BFA in Visual Arts from the National Autonomous University of Mexico. He creates humorous art in a variety of media, including cartoons, illustrations, animations, fine art and public art. Felipe has received support for his projects from the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, National Association of Latino Arts & Culture, Puffin Foundation, and the Metropolitan Transit Authority. He is the creator of the celebrated project Manhatitlan (Pinto Books, 2010) about the intertwining of Mexican and American cultures in New York and the author of the cartoon collection No Man Is a Desert Island (Pinto Books, 2012.) He has been a Teaching Artist since 2010. He motivates students to find their “inner artist”, to use their skills and sensibilities to build a strong sense of self-confidence and to use art as a special tool in their lives. “Working with CWP through its poetry and murals projects has given me an invaluable opportunity to interact with students of diverse ages, backgrounds and nationalities and to share with them my passion for drawing and painting. There is nothing more rewarding than to spark their imagination.” http://www.feggo.com/
