AB Global Valentine's Day Book Party!

AB Global surprise Holiday Book Party teachers community poetry PS 279 books volunteers Alliance Bernstein Valentine's DayOn February 2nd, volunteers from AB Global visited the 2nd graders at PS 279 in the Bronx and treated them to a pre-Valentine's Day surprise!
On the week prior, many AB Volunteers came together to order various book titles including Mercy Watson, Sideways Stories from Wayside School and Poppleton, and hold an in-office wrapping party in advance of the book party with the students.
The volunteers took part in two classes. They joined in on fun warm-ups and theater activities, listened to students reflect about what they learned in the CWP residency, and shared a little about themselves.
Then it was time for presents!
The students were overwhelmed with gratitude and fell in love with their new books. One teacher even swelled with tears at the site of her students' joy upon receiving their gifts!
Community-Word Project Staff and Teaching Artists would like to thank all of the volunteers from AB Global for making this day possible.
